We’ve made it the last regular season match of the year. 5 months ad 4 matches left. In our 2nd season something has become clear. Competition as improved. Matches are tighter across the league. Several matches have come down to a single doubles match, a single stroke even. I expect the following matches to follow a similar course. This time with a little more pressure! (I mean fun).
KB (4-0) @ Hayneous OG’s (1-3)
They may be undefeated, but it hasn’t been the a stressless ride for KB. A couple of their matches has been tiiiight. Even their most recent at home against Beast Mode came down to one double match. A strong showing could boost their confidence going into the playoffs. I have a feeling the OG’s aren’t going to make it easy for them. Coming off a tough loss at Cougar Country, this team is excited to be playing at Castle again, with nothing to lose. Another tight match? Can the OG’s pull the upset?
Dark Knights (2-2) @ Ninjas (2-2)
The Ninjas have put together an amazing first season. From winning their first match to nearly beating KB at NEC. Here is their final chance for one more upset to give themselves the opportunity for one more match! Dark Knights have now won 2 in a row, by relatively slim margins. This time last year they had won 60% of their matches and were undefeated. Yet, they are still in the hunt. Simply put: The Loser is OUT! Unless……
Cougar Country (1-3) @ Beast Mode (2-2)
Cougar Country are coming off their first win against the Hayneous OG’s. Cougar has had a tough schedule this year. Pushed out of their home course set things in a bad direction for this team. But they taking down the OG’s handily con hopefully get some of their bite back. Beast Mode started off strong with 2 wins but then played the 2 strongest teams in our league rather closely. They need to win or keep things close. Simply put: WIN and your IN! Lose and it’s a game of percentages. Can Cougar play the heartbreaker and send them home for the year?
Riptide (4-0) @ Wild Turkey (0-4)
The current has been strong this year sweeping away everyone in their path. They have 4 players in the top 10 while putting in the most miles driven. Wild Turkey has been figuring out who they are a bit while working on rosters and matchups. Playing the Dark Knights close at Castle last match proves this is a very different team from the beginning of the year. With the addition of a top player, this team has become formidable. There is a Riptide warning in effect at Wild Turkey this weekend! Can the birds escape with their first win?
We are coming to the end everyone. Enjoy it! Please continue to post photos of the:
FUN, FELLOWSHIP, and DISC GOLF!
Happy New Year everyone! We are down to our final 2 regular season matches of the season. Due to scheduling conflicts among teams and other tournaments the captains have been working hard to figure out how to get the most possible people to play. We understand any date change creates other difficulties so we appreciate your patience when trying to work through these conflicts. Now onto the matches!
Wild Turkey (0-3) @ Dark Knights (1-2) (Jan. 3rd)
Wild Turkey gave their best showing of the year and almost pulled out a win against the Hayneous OG’s at home. Coming to the Castle, in the rain, will present a bit more difficult of a challenge. Coming off their first win, the Dark Knights still have the slimmest of chance to make the playoffs and they know it. They must win this one to stay in the hunt.
Beast Mode (2-1) @ KB (3-0) (Jan 10th)
KB finally got tested. They were down 3 points going into doubles but stepped up and won 6 of 8 doubles matches taking the victory. Beast Mode tied Riptide after singles and lost 3 doubles matches by a single stroke. Can Beast mode bounce back and challenge the mighty “Tridents”? Jimbo told me they have been putting in the work over the break. Can the Beast come out of its lair and compete with sand in its feet and wind in its hair?
Ninjas (2-1) @ Riptide (3-0) (Jan 10th @ Castle Hayne)
This match will unfortunately be played at Castle due to the destruction of Socastee. We all grieve a bit for you Myrtle as the loss of such a course is devastating for any club. But Castle is a worthy battleground for any two teams. The Ninjas have already knocked off they Hayneous OG’s at Castle in their first match of the season. I have feeling this may be the first time playing Castle for several Riptide players. If so, the Riptide maybe scrabbling to win a lot of doubles victories again. Word of warning to the Ninjas: The Riptide are great hosts who can cook! Don’t eat too much.
Hayneous OG’s (1-2) @ Cougar Country (0-3) (Jan. 17th)
This is a repeat of the match from last year where the Cougars won handily. The teams are a little different this year. The Hayneous OG’s are coming off their first win, a tight one. The Hayneous OG’s are are no stranger to tight matches. Simply put, they 2 doubles victories away from being 3-0. Cougar Country has had one of the more difficult draws of the season so far. They play at home for the final time this season needing a win. What’s the chances this one come down to one doubles match? One stroke even? Every point matters in this one!
Christmas and New Years bring a certain remembrance of the appreciation of giving. Sacrificing our time, energy, and/or money for the betterment of someone else brings joy to our own souls as much as it does the one who receives it. Our league embodies this idea, and I can’t thank you all enough for taking this to heart and becoming fantastic hosts! Its not easy, its not cheap, but its greatly appreciated! To a New Year a giving!
